June 23, 2023 |  Vol. 6 Issue 4 | Thank You Edition
GPCA runs on volunteer power and as the 2022 - 2023 year comes to a close with the Summer Conference, it is time to look back and thank those who have done so much for little to no recognition.

This issue will highlight some volunteers who have gone above and beyond this past year and helped make GPCA successful.

All our volunteers have full-time jobs and families making their dedication and time commendable even if we cannot highlight the fabulous individual work of each one.

Wyatt West is well known to the Georgia Pest Control Industry for his great presentations and throwing of candy. Did you know that Wyatt also heads up the Education Committee? He helps Christina Chapman, Education & Accounting Director find and book speakers for all the events that have happened from the Summer Conference of last year right into 2024. Thanks, Wyatt!

Committee Chairs & Advisors, Thank you!

Did you get free CEUs virtually this year? If you did, it is very likely John Kauffmann is to blame. John is the Region Director for Region 17, and in his pursuit to be the best Region Director he could be, he also provided 8 Free CEUs to any who could virtually join. He also help behind the scenes to improve our instructors/speakers list available to Region Directors and attended the Strategic Planning in 2022 and 2023 to help further direct and steer GPCA to success.

Region Directors, Thank you!

All this new growth and growing prosperity come on the heels of partnering with a new Executive Director, Kelly McLendon, CAE (Certified Associate Executives). Kelly won Alan R. Johnson Leadership for outstanding leadership of an association from the Georgia Society of Association Executives. In 2022, Kelly won the Skelton Massey Award. These awards demonstrate the high-quality leadership that GPCA has attracted. Never fear, we have ensured Kelly's place with GPCA for another four years.

Rick Bell, Bodine Sinyard, Chris Gorecki, and Jeff Dunn continue to lead the charge in the state Capitol to encourage candidates and current elected officials to help preserve the interests of the Pest Control Industry.

The GPCA Professional Women in Pest Management (PWIPM) has been meeting now for two years. Allyson Gilleland, Veronica Showalter, &  Ashley Marratt, GPCA's current Secretary/Treasure, have been instrumental in keeping this important opportunity for women to network within the industry happening.

Without our Allied Members, a large portion of GPCA would be a poorer association. Mike Purcell has been leading our Allied Members and advocating for their needs all year. Attending strategic meetings, all board meetings, and volunteering to lead the Silent Auction at Summer Conference, Mike continues to be a growing asset to GPCA.

Johnny Jury has been the steadfast Region Director for Region 13. He oversees an in-person event every month to provide CEUs locally. What you don't know is that Johnny Jury has his fingers on the pulse of GPCA. He attends board meetings and strategy sessions regularly. GPCA can count on Johnny to be there with great insight and suggestions.

Who do you call when things go a bit sideways and you need someone to step up and into positions that are open? Garry Adams of course! Ever willing to step up even when his time at GPCA should have been done. He has led with aplomb and good nature.
